Final versions of all UBC theses must be approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and must conform to the specifications given here. Theses are only reviewed in PDF format, and they are reviewed in the order in which they’re received. If you think your thesis does not require a table of contents, contact the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Thesis Section to confirm this. If staff notice egregious mistakes elsewhere in a thesis they may require them to be corrected in the interest of ensuring a professional presentation of the work.

If you are planning to produce a non-print thesisyou must consult with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies early in the process to ensure that the format is acceptable. Bibliographic details should include the title of the article and the name of the disesrtation ONLY if the article has been accepted or publishedand the chapter s of the thesis in which the associated work is located.
Lists of symbols, abbreviations or other advisable if applicable If ethics approval was required for the research, the Preface must list the Certificate Number s of the Ethics Certificate s applicable to the project. There is a single scholarly abstract for the entire work, uhc it must not exceed words in length. You must list the full examining committee, including both University Examiners, but listing the External Examiner is optional.

If you know which members of the committee will be on the Figs Committee you can include them there; otherwise, they can go under Additional Supervisory Committee Members. Acknowledgements, introductory material, and a list of publications do not belong in the Preface.
